Golden, Colorado – Dr. Alfred Lacazette, Geothermal Technology, Inc. (GTI)’s Director of Geology, spoke at the Geothermal Rising Colorado Regional Interest Group (CO Rig) meeting on September 10, 2025.  Dr. Lacazette’s talk: “Finding and simulating a hot sedimentary aquifer geothermal prospect in the DJ Basin” was presented as a webinar at the CO Rig’s hybrid virtual/in-person event at the New Terrain Brewing Company in Golden Colorado.  Dr. Lacazette’s talk described the methodologies that were used to identify, characterize, and model a hot sedimentary aquifer (HSA) prospect in the Denver-Julesburg Basin in Colorado.   HSA’s present a new approach to generating commercial amounts of geothermal electricity that can be scaled over large areas of Colorado and the U.S.A.  HSA geothermal is applicable to existing oil/gas fields and utilizes both the abundant data generated by the oil and gas industry and employs oil and gas workers who would otherwise be displaced by the energy transition.

“As GTI continues its expansion in Colorado, we believe that it is important to involve all of the stakeholders, in the process.  Al’s participation in this webinar helps with the educational part of that process,” said J. Gary McDaniel, CEO of GTI.  “It is incumbent to GTI that we become an integral and valued member of the communities in which we operate.”
